It seems that Apple is recommending Mac users to install Antivirus software to protect themselves from vulnerabilities. It seems in recent years attackers are exploding Mac operating system vulnerabilities. Apple has posted an entry in their support website
Apple encourages the widespread use of multiple antivirus utilities so that virus programmers have more than one application to circumvent, thus making the whole virus writing process more difficult. Here are some available antivirus utilities:
- Intego VirusBarrier X5, available from the Apple Online Store : License: commercial
- Symantec Norton Anti-Virus 11 for Macintosh, available from the Apple Online Store
License: commercial - McAfee VirusScan for Mac: License: commercial
As compare to Apple Microsoft recommends it’s users to use updated antivirus software and install latest windows and Microsoft software updates.
Now there’s an announcement we never thought we’d hear…
