The number of different reporting dimensions available in this service provides answers to a variety of digital business questions. Reporting capabilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Share of smartphone and feature phone usage by OS

Carrier share of smartphone traffic

OS share of carrier traffic

Traffic to site content categories by carrier, OS and device type

Mobile HTML vs. standard HTML traffic by content by device type

WiFi vs. Non-WiFi traffic

iPad and Other Device Traffic Contribution by Country

The iPad is currently the dominant tablet device across all geographies, contributing more than 89 percent of tablet traffic across all markets. The iPad’s contribution to total non-computer device traffic is highest in Canada (33.5 percent). Brazil has the second highest non-computer device share of traffic coming from the iPad at 31.8 percent, although non-computer devices account for less than 1 percent of total traffic in the country. In Singapore, where non-computer devices comprise nearly 6 percent of total traffic, the iPad accounts for 26.2 percent of this traffic.

Traffic by Device

Another important dynamic of device traffic is the division between access over mobile networks and access via WiFi/LAN networks. comScore analyzed the differences in traffic patterns between iOS and Android devices to understand these splits by network access, with the results showing that iOS phones and tablets sourced a significantly higher share of device traffic from WiFi networks than Android devices. In the smartphone market, 47.5 percent of iPhone traffic occurred over WiFi networks compared to 21.7 percent of Android phones. With respect to tablets, an overwhelming 91.9 percent of iPad traffic occurred over WiFi networks compared to 65.2 percent among Android tablets.

Anindita Mishra- McAfee Cybermum India,Said

These findings are extremely relevant from the perspective of Indian parents. As the internet evolves into a new platform for self expression and social interaction, children are indiscriminately indulging in information exchange leading to an increasing rate of cyber exploits. The introduction of technologies like McAfee Family Protection is a step in the right direction as it enables us parents to understand, handhold and mould our children’s online persona and behavior.

Venkat Krishnapur, Senior Director, McAfee India, Said

Online concerns for tweens and teens are not what they were two years ago. The threat landscape has changed dramatically – especially in the context of how children of various ages in urban India use the internet and how they are exposed to various forms of threats online. McAfee Family Protection is a powerful tool that helps parents get better insight to the digital lifestyles of their children. Parents can choose to block categories of sites, filter out only a handful of sites, or block nothing at all and simply review online activity reports. Its innovative features such as online activity reports, age appropriate settings and YouTube, games and website blocking and so on gives Indian parents a powerful tool to ensure their kids stay safe when using the Internet.

Royal Pingdom Blog compared the performance and Reliability of various url shortening services including goo.gl, Bit.ly, Is.gd, TinyURL, Ow.ly, Snipurl and Twurl. Royal Pingdom comparison were primarily concerned with the reliability and performance of shortened URLs. How much overhead do the different URL shorteners add, and do they always work?

Performance overhead

The overhead that an URL shortener adds is that, instead of going directly to a site, you first have to ask the servers of the URL shortening service where to go, and they will redirect you to the actual target site.

Goo.gl is almost 3x faster than Bit.ly .

The only place Goo.gl was beat was in Europe, where Is.gd actually managed to inch just ahead of it in terms of performance.

Reliability

It doesn’t matter how fast a URL shortener is if it’s broken. That’s why we thought it was relevant to also show the reliability of the included services here

Forwarding reliability for URL shorteners, October 12 – October 27, 2010

Dell has published a chat comparing Dell Studio Notebooks with Apple MacBook Pro Notebooks and Dell Desktop products with Apple Desktop Products.

Bob O’Donnell, an analyst at IDC Said,

This is a classic Apple story,A pretty stark comparison, but it’s been true for a long time. A lot of the mainstream notebooks these days are being sold for $500 or $600. Yet the cheapest MacBook is $999. It’s not uncommon to see 50 percent price deltas. Their share of the PC market–about 5 percent–hasn’t changed dramatically. On the other hand, you can show that Apple pretty much owns the consumer retail laptop market over $1,200. That’s the reason their stock has done so well, and the reason that they’re so profitable. They’ve carved out a very nice niche at the high end
