Phishing is a way of attempting to acquire sensitive information such as usernames, passwords and credit card details by masquerading as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication. Phishing attacks have increased in recent years and hence it is very important that you check the authenticity of a website before you share your confidential data like Credit Card details, Account numbers, IPIN, passwords, etc., on the site.

You can easily identify a secure website by looking for Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) Certificate or Extended Validation Secure Sockets Layer (EV SSL) Certificate on the browser.

How SSL / EV SSL certificate can help in identifying a secure website?

If the website you visit is SSL certified, you have to look for https in the url and the padlock symbol  to confirm the authenticity of the website.

EV SSL Certificate is a special certificate which provides clear visual indicators to identify a genuine website. This certificate works on latest browser versions – IE 7, Mozilla Firefox 3, Opera 9.5, & Safari 3.2 and above.

Here’s how you get it done:

  1. Go to your Gmail account and click on the gear icon located at the top right corner of the window.

  3. Choose “Enable IMAP”
  4. Exit Gmail.
  5. Go to the Android Marketplace via your Android phone browser and search for “ Cpedia Mobile Backup to Gmail” app.
  6. Choose to install the app.
  7. When the app installation is complete, open Backup to Gmail and plug in your Gmail account and password to begin.
  8. If you want to backup previously sent and created SMS messages, choose to perform a “first time sync” when asked.
  9. You will be given the choice to either begin the backup process or skip it. However skipping it obviously prevents your previously sent messages from being backed up.

    Incoming messages are automatically backed up after 20 seconds and messages sent are backed up after 30 minutes. You can choose to instead manually back up messages yourself, but keep in mind that only 100 SMS messages can be backed up at once.

    Oh right, there’s one more step…

  10. If the Backup to Gmail app comes in handy for whichever of the countless uses you need it for, recommend the app to friends. You can do this by accessing the menu and clicking on “Share”

    Now, you no longer have to worry about losing exam notes or wiping out your message history without doing a once-over for important content first. It’s an undervalued ability you won’t completely appreciate until you need it.

Fotolink allows Facebook users to transfer their photos from Facebook to Google+. Here’s a step by step guide to start copying photos:

Step 1: Sign up for primadesk :  Go to www.primadesk.com and register by selecting Sign Up.

Step 2: Add Facebook & Picasa : Click on Add Accounts on the right. Here you can add your Facebook and Picasa accounts.

To add accounts, click on Facebook icon, give a name to the account and select next. On the next page, you can enter the details of facebook account or simply authorize your login information through facebook.

To add Google Picasa account, select Google Picasa icon and follow the same process.

Add your online accounts

Step 3: Create an Album in Picasa:

Now that you have added accounts, go to the Photo App by clicking the icon located in the application tool bar.

Click on Picasa under My Online Account, then click Create Album.

Give the name and privacy setting for the album.
Click the Create button

Step 4: Select photos from Facebook: Click on Facebook, select the photos you want to transfer by either clicking the check box next to each thumbnail or click the Select All button located in the tool bar. Now with your photos selected click the Copy button located in the tool bar.

Step 5: Paste photos to Picasa: Select the Picasa album you just created. Click the Paste button located in the tool bar. Just like that your photos have been transferred to your Picasa account.

Unlike most other sites providing prices of mobile phones, mysmartprice does not leave you with the price alone. Rather they provide the store information as well. The guys behind mysmartprice should do a better job of highlighting the price lists that they have. Going back to the Nokia example, their nokia mobile price list was one of the most updated price lists that I could find on the internet. Apart from the brand, the site provides price lists for different price ranges and price lists by features as well. It will be even more interesting if they start providing some option to mix and match those parameters. For example there is no way to find out android mobiles in the range of Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 15,000.
