Intel is working closely with Adobe to optimize Flash technology for Intel Media Processor CE 3100. This effort is expected to provide consumers with richer and more seamless Web-based and video viewing experiences through advanced Intel-based cable set-top boxes, Blu-ray Disc players, digital TVs and retail connected AV devices. Intel plans to ship the first CE3100 with support for an optimized implementation of Adobe Flash Lite before mid-2009.

William O. Leszinske Jr., general manager of Intel’s Digital Home Group, Said

The Intel® Media Processor CE 3100 is a highly integrated solution that provides a powerful, yet flexible technology foundation that will bring to life the high-definition capabilities of Adobe Flash. Our effort with Adobe is poised to accelerate a rich, yet relevant Internet experience on the TV that will provide consumers with access to a growing number of Flash based applications that will ultimately be enjoyed across a number of screens seamlessly, from the laptop to a MID and now the TV.

David Wadhwani, general manager and vice president, Platform Business Unit at Adobe, Said

The Open Screen Project is striving to remove barriers for developers and designers as they look to publish content and applications across desktops and devices. The Intel® Media Processor CE 3100 provides a powerful platform capable of delivering outstanding Flash experiences to millions of homes as a new generation of televisions and set-top boxes makes its way into the living room

Adobe and Intel are also working together to bring an optimized implementation of Adobe AIR™ technology to Intel’s digital home platform in the future.

Next month, Intel will show off its next-generation Classmate laptop, which includes a touch screen and new features that make it easier for students to use.

The new Convertible Classmate is a tablet PC, with a touch screen that swivels to make data input easier. Intel will show prototypes of the laptop at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) to be held in Las Vegas between Jan. 8 and 11. Intel bills the Classmate as an educational laptop for kids in developing countries, but it will also be available in the general market. The touch-screen interface makes software more interactive and easier for kids to use, Intel said.

The Classmate is a reference design created by Intel, but the laptops are actually shipped by PC makers throughout the world. PC makers will discuss their plans to ship Convertible Classmate products at CES, an Intel spokeswoman said on Wednesday. Laptops built by using the reference design will become available in early 2009.

The new laptop has a clamshell design with an 8.9-inch screen. Input of data can be done either through a stylus or by touch. There is an option to rest palms on the touch screen while inputting data. The laptop has a number of other bells and whistles, including an accelerometer that changes the display’s orientation horizontally or vertically depending on the laptop’s position.

The Convertible Classmate will run on an Intel Atom processor and come loaded with either the Windows or Linux OS.

This technology is called Silicon Photonics, based on silicon-based Avalanche Photodetector (APD), uses standard silicon to send and receive optical information among computers and other electronic devices. The use of Avalanche Photodetector (APD) will reduce the cost compared to other commercially optical devices.

Mario Paniccia said, Ph.D. Intel Fellow and director of the company’s Photonics Technology Lab

This research result is another example of how silicon can be used to create very high-performing optical devices,In addition to optical communication, these silicon-based APDs could also be applied to other areas such as sensing, imaging, quantum cryptography or biological applications

Researchers of the silicon-based APD revealed that- a light sensor that achieves superior sensitivity by detecting light and amplifying weak signals as light is directed onto silicon. APDs are light sensors that process optical communications to electrical signals. Intel’s APD has a gain-bandwidth product of 340GHz, the best result ever reported for an APD & able to address bandwidth needs of data-intensive computing applications. Silicon Photonics will provide substantial size, cost, and power savings over traditional optical communication solutions.

On Monday at San Francisco seminar Intel has introduced the three new i7 series core processor, i7 that is next generation micro-architecture. In this i7 processor you’ll get the maximum performance, it is the combination of Intel Turbo Boost technology(that maximizes speed for demanding applications, dynamically accelerate performance) and Intel Hyper-Threading technology (that improves the performance by highly threaded applications [with 8 threads] and provide you the better way to handle the workloads).

Pat Gelsinger, senior vice president and general manager of Intel’s Digital Enterprise Group, Said

The Core i7 processor speeds video editing (and) immersive games…by up to 40 percent without increasing power consumption," the Intel said in a statement. Combining the i7 with super-fast solid state drives will lead to significant jumps in performance, When you couple what is Intel’s biggest leap in chip design with other incredible innovations like Intel’s solid state drives, the Core i7 processor has redefined the computer of tomorrow.

Intel Core i7 processor features

Intel Turbo Boost technology: Intel Turbo Boost Technology provides the better speed for applications while required, and dynamically accelerating performance to match your workload . It allows processor cores to run faster than the base operating frequency if it’s operating below power, current, and temperature specification limits.

Intel Hyper-Threading technology: Hyper thread technology will provide multiple thread (8 thread )to the operating system so that your work becomes easier by multi tasking, that allows you to do more work in parallel.

Intel QuickPath: Intel QuickPath provides high data transfer speed of 25.6 GB/sec(max) means almost doubles the memory bandwidth.

Intel Virtualization technology: Virtualization support from the processor, chipset, BIOS, and enabling software, Intel Virtualization Technology improves traditional software-based virtualization.Taking advantage of offloading workloads to system hardware, these integrated features enable virtualization software to provide more streamlined software stacks and "near native" performance characteristics.

The world’s leading computer chip making company Intel launched new Xeon 7400 series microprocessor is developed for businesses that want to boost server performance while conserving on space and energy. The chip uses less electricity and is as much as 48 per cent faster than previous models, This is a great invention in the field of computer hardware research and development scene in India. Intel’s Xeon 7400 series microprocessor Contains 1.9 billion transistors with 16 MB shared L3 cache and it is based on the latest 45 NM High-K fabrication process. testing of this chip is done by Intel’s Bangalore laboratories to make sure that it is compatible with most of the existing. Dell Inc, Hewlett-Packard Co, International Business Machines Corp and Sun Microsystems Inc will start selling computers that use the Xeon 7400 chips this week

Intel has introduced with seven versions or stock keeping units (SKUs) at launching:

Introduced 3 six-core versions and 4 are quad-core,

Cores can access up to 16MB of shared L3 cache,

Offer frequencies up to 2.66GHz at 130W,

Two low-power versions that save power, require only 50W for the quad-core, and 65W for the six-core.

Why six-core chip? Chips developed for server machines are very costly more than $1k, its approximately 10 times of the average price of PC processors. Intel developed processor that have multiple cores, means the greater number of tasks it can perform simultaneously. normally we have majority of two cores chips and more expensive models employ four.
