Bing team is quite famous for trying different things on Bing Home page. This time they come up with “Video background”. The video background is powered by HTML 5 and currently only available for US users. It should be available in other countries in coming weeks. Some have been comparing it to the "Google Doodles".

To play the video on Bing Home page, Bing has used standard tag of HTML 5.

Bing home page contains video clip in at least three different formats – webm, mp4 and ogg and it plays the video according to the browser and thus the clip should play just fine in any modern browser including IE and Safari.

Transfer Google Health Profile to Microsoft Health Vault

On January 1, 2012, Google Health will be discontinued as a service. After this date, you will no longer be able to view, enter, or edit data stored in Google Health. Your Google Health data will be available for download—and subsequent upload to Microsoft HealthVault—through January 1, 2013.

Google Health users can easily transfer their personal health information stored in a Google Health profile to a Microsoft HealthVault account using the Direct Project messaging protocols established by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT. The Direct Project specifies a simple, scalable, standards-based way for participants to send authenticated, encrypted health information to known, trusted recipients over the Internet.

How To Transfer Google Health Profile to Microsoft Health Vault

Go to the Google Health account you wish to transfer information from. From the Download menu, select Send profile to another service.
You’ll see a new window. Select Microsoft HealthVault from the services dropdown, then click Send a copy of my profile.
Click the link in the email you receive and follow the instructions you’re given.
Sign in to (or create) your HealthVault account.
View your information in HealthVault.

You can manually download your information from Google and upload it on Microsoft Health Vault.

Third-party organizations that have developed Google Health applications also are invited to migrate their solutions to the HealthVault platform. Cloud storage service provider Amazon announced the launch of storage plans that include unlimited space for music, free storage for all Amazon MP3 purchases and Cloud Player for Web, now on iPad. This service is also available in India also. So India users can also enjoy unlimited music storage on Amazon cloud infrastructure. Although Amazon Cloud Player is only available of US users.

Amazon customers who purchase a Cloud Drive storage plan will receive unlimited space for their MP3 and AAC (.m4a) music files. This offer is available for even the lowest price plan: $20/year for 20 GB of file storage plus unlimited space for music.

Customers can now store all of their Amazon MP3 purchases for free in Cloud Drive, including future MP3 purchases as well as all purchases made before the launch of Cloud Drive and Cloud Player. MP3s purchased from Amazon MP3 and stored in Amazon Cloud Drive will not count against a customer’s storage quota.

Amazon also released a new Cloud Player, this player enables customers to play music stored in the cloud on any Android phone, Android tablet, Mac, PC, and now on their iPad. Cloud Player for Web has been optimized to offer customers streaming playback of their Cloud Drive music using the Safari browser for iPad. Today I got an Email from Dropbox, stating that they had made some changes in their Terms of Service, Privacy Policy and Security Overview. Here are a few changes, that Dropbox made in their TOC , Privacy and Security.

Encryption keys – Dropbox manages encryption keys for you. The reason is many of the most popular Dropbox features — like accessing your files from the website, creating file previews, and sharing files with other people — would either be impossible or would be much more cumbersome for users without this capability. But we’re also ok if you want to manage your own encryption by using products like TrueCrypt with Dropbox. We’ve discussed this publicly in the past, but we added this information to our security overview so it’s easy to find.

Data practices – People love Dropbox because it lets them take their life’s work everywhere. And we want you to be in control of that work, including your decisions to delete it. So we added a section to our privacy policy to describe our data retention policies. If you delete your account, we try to delete your data quickly, but there are some rare cases where we can’t, which are outlined in the privacy policy.

Location & log data – Data on how people use Dropbox helps us create a better user experience. We want to be clear about how we collect and use that data, so we’ve explained it in our privacy policy. For example, we collect information such as your country, operating system and the hardware ID from your device. This data allows us to optimize your experience for your device and language.

We’re always working to make Dropbox more efficient. For example, we may de-duplicate files, which means we store only one copy of files or pieces of files that are the same. This has been discussed for a long time in our forums, in interviews and in response to user emails, but we want to spell it out further for you and have added it to our privacy policy.

Specific Media Acquires MySpace

MySpace, The social networking website is acquired by Specific Media for about $35 million. In 2005 News Corporation bought MySpace for $850 million and they expecting to get $100 million from MySpace sale. . Mike Jones will be leaving the company and also confirmed that more than 50 per cent of Myspace’s workforce will be laid off due to the sale.

Official Facebook Pages of FCUK and Cadbury Bournville Pulled Off

Social networking website Facebook, has taken down the official pages of French Connection UK (FCUK)and Cadbury Bournville. Two brands where allegedly using Facebook pages to promote their products and promotions.

According to the guidelines, if a brand wants to release promotions or run contests, they should do it by building an external application or tab. This is to specifically state that "the promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Facebook.

A Cadbury spokesperson said,

The Cadbury Bournville Facebook fan page went offline on Thursday. Cadbury is currently working with Facebook and agency partners to ascertain the reason and re-activate the fan page at the earliest.

At the time of writing this article , the official pages of both Cadbury Bournville and French Connection UK were still down. Just a few days ago, Pizza Hut’s official page was pulled down in a similar fashion by Facebook, after the former failed to comply with Facebook’s revised promotional guidelines.
