WLWBackup is a backup utility for Windows Live Writer for taking backup of Windows Live Writer. This includes blog settings, posts and plug-in. To run WLWBackup on your computer is that you must have installed .Net Framework 3.5 SP1.

How to Take Windows Live Writer Backup

open WLWBackup

Choose what you want to backup (posts, settings, plug-in, etc), and then click the Backup button

Once you’ve set the backup filename, let the program do its thing

How to Restore form the backup file

Simply double click on the backup file and You will be asked the same question about whether you’re sure you wish to restore

Windows Live Calendar is now Embeddable

Microsoft has finally added a feature that will allows Windows Live Calendar users to embed and share their Windows Live Calendar with their friends or embed it into blogs or websites. Google Calendar also offers the same feature but Microsoft took some time to add calendar embed feature into Windows Live calendar. Microsoft calls this feature "A Calendar Badge" this badge can be accessed from any browser because the calendar badge is uses simple iframe. There are date and month arrows for moving forward and backward in time, and the event list shows as many events that fit, starting from the highlighted day.

MSN Toolbar with Online Cash Detector Feature

Microsoft is keep updating their MSN toolbar and now this time they have added Live search cash back detector in MSN toolbar. MSN toolbar search is powered by Live Search. The MSN Toolbar (http://toolbar.msn.com) contains a cashback–offer-detecting mechanism. This means that wherever you search online — whether it’s Yahoo, Live, Google or Craigslist — the toolbar will gleam an icon if there is cashback available for the item you searched for. It never fails, and when you click the gleam it brings you to the page where the cash back offer is available.

This feature is only available to 18+ US residents.

Hotmail Rolls out 6 New Cool Features

Microsoft Windows Live Mail or Hotmail team has added some cool feature to their mail service. Microsoft has made some significance improvements in Windows Live Mail and Hotmail in recent times. Today they have rolled out 6 new features to Hotmail users. Some of the feature are also presented and CES 2009. Let’s have a closer look to Hotmail’s new features

More room for messages: Microsoft has removed the top banner ad so Hotmail users can view more message listed in their inbox.

Ever growing storage: Windows Live Mail or Hotmail starts with a 5 GB of storage and the storage is automatically growing to fulfill your storage requirements. There is one more point to note is that Windows Live Mail and Hotmail users also has a 25 GB of Windows Skydrive storage.

Info at your fingertips : This is the most useful feature that Microsoft has added and Hotmail users are waiting for this feature when they have shown it on CES 2009. Info at your fingertip feature allows hotmail users to add local maps, direction, movie times, and more into their Emails with just one click.

A little more social : When Hotmail or Windows Live Mail users login into their accounts they are now welcomed with all their social activity page. This also include social activities of their friends. Currently social activity is displayed when Hotmail users go http://home.live.com page.

A new way to get Hotmail on your phone: Microsoft has added support for POP3 access of Hotmail and Windows Live Mail. Currently POP3 access is not supported in all countries.

More style:Windows Live Mail and Hotmail has got some more new themes and users can also edit their signature in HTML.

Remove Web Pages from Live Search Index

Microsoft Live Search team is working very hard to add more and more new features to Live search for end users as well as for webmaster and web site owners. Live Search has added one more feature that will help webmasters to have a greater control over their web pages how Live Search will index them. To remove web page from Live Search index Microsoft Live Search team says webmaster can add a meta tag exclusion within the tag at the top of your HTML page for example:

Once the page is recrawled, the page will no longer be linked to in the SERP.

If you need URLs removed from our index, please take the following steps:

1. Ensure the pages that need to be removed are unavailable to the crawler. To remove a URL at the next crawl ensure that the page displays a 404 file not found error.

2. Launch the Live Search Support form. Go to the form and begin filling it out.

3. Identify from where in Live Search you want the URL removed. To quickly remove a URL, select Content Removal Request from the form’s drop-down list. Select one of these resulting options for removal:

Remove my content. If you want the URL removed from the SERP, select this option. This is a permanent removal. Should you want this URL indexed again in the future, you will need to fill out a Content Inclusion Request from the same support form.
Cache removal. If you just want the cached page removed, use this option. Note that this will not remove the URL from our index.

4. Complete the rest of the form. Submit the URL or URLs to be removed, the query used to find the URL, complete the rest of the form, and then click Submit.

Microsoft has recently released Live Search auto suggestions add-on for Firefox browser. The Live search auto suggestion add-on give users to auto suggestion when they start tying in Firefox search bar. he list of suggestions refreshes as you continue typing or when you change the query. You can click the suggestion that best matches what you were searching for to speed you to your results. The add-on is available in the following markets: Australia (AU), Canada (CA), India (IN), Ireland (IE), New Zealand (NZ), Philippines (PH), South Africa (ZA), United Kingdom (UK), and United States (US).

Microsoft Confirmed Office Live and Windows Live Merger

On Friday Microsoft has confirmed that they are going to bring the Office Live and Windows Service under the one umbrella. Microsoft planning to merge Office Live and Windows Live services as part of their Wave 4 release. Office Live and Windows Live merger will defiantly help Microsoft to bring more collaboration between the two services because their are a number of Microsoft cloud based services are available including Live Mesh, Office Live, Folder Share, Windows Live, Skydive . this integration will also help Windows Live users to involve with Office Live because most of the users either of Office Live or Windows Live are not able to access both services at the same time because their is such option available right now.

Live Search Highlighting Malicious Sites

Microsoft has finally decided to mark Malicious websites in “Live Search” search results. According to Microsoft Live Search blog: Our primary goal is to protect you from a potentially harmful page. You can still decide to risk it and visit the page, but we strongly urge against it and recommend always following our security guide.

The web can be a dangerous place; there are threats around every corner. In recent years, threats coming from web pages have significantly increased, from malicious programs hosted on web pages, to downloads that manipulate your computer and steal your personal information. In the past, these threats mainly came from questionable websites, but today even reputable sites can turn bad, which means that everyone is at risk for malware.

One thing I am not able to get why Malicious Website highlighting is powered by JavaScript, because if JavaScript is disabled then this Malicious Websites highlighting will not work. I Microsoft needs to finds some other way to highlight malicious websites in Live Search results.
