googlelogo_readerszone_thumb Worlds Top 100 Brand: Google No 1 Brand Google has bagged the top position in the annual global power brand list published by the WPP owned research company Millward Brown for the second time in a row. Its estimated brand value stands at a whooping $86bn.Google has shown 30% year-on-year increase in its value.

General Electric has been ranked at number 2 in this list with an estimated brand value of $71.4bn. At number 3 follows the Google search rival Microsoft at $70.89bn. These were followed by Coca Cola ($58.2bn) and China Mobile ($57.2bn).

"Google’s rank has been driven by fantastic financial performance and equity value," said Peter Walsh, the global account director at Millward Brown .

The top five companies remained unchanged year-on-year. Each of these top five companies however recorded an increase of 15% to 39% as compared to 2007. The huge difference between the brand values of Google ($86bn) and Microsoft ($71.4bn) clearly indicate that Google is way ahead of Microsoft in the search engine business.

The world runs on brand name. So is your list. In this list there is not a single Indian Brand. It is depressing for me but this comment box is very small space to discuss such a big issue.. by they way, it was a nice read.. thanks for this information.

Not just search engine but in everything I would say Google is way ahead of MS. Look at anything offered by Google, its free and its works very well, which is something we cannot even say about Hotmail. Google’s business model is great and they are making a lot of money by giving stuff away for free.
