Android 2.1 SDK is minor release of Google Android SDK and it can be deployed on Android powered handset starting from January 2010. The Android 2.0 platform introduces many new and exciting features for users and developers. This document provides a glimpse at some of the new features and technologies in Android 2.0.

Contacts and AccountsMultiple accounts and contacts synchronization including Exchange accounts can be added to Android powered devices. It also provides an interface to developers so that they can create additional adapters to synchronize Android powered devices with other data sources. Quick Contact for Android provides instant access to a contact’s information and communication modes. |

With Android 2.1 SDK Google has included the support for Microsoft Exchange and combined inbox support that would enable users to browse multiple email accounts in one page. Search functionality for SMS and MMS is also included with this release. Auto delete is added with this feature uses can delete oldest messages in a conversation when a defined limit is reached. |
This SDK also include built in support for flash,Digital zoom ,Scene mode ,White balance ,Color effect and Macro focus. All these features are very useful when your Android powered devices has a built in camera. Calendar is updated with new agenda view with infinite scrolling, events indicate the attending status for each invitee and invite new guests to events.
An improved virtual keyboard makes it easier to hit the correct characters and improved typing speed. The framework also includes support for multi touch and smart dictionary. The UI of web browser is improved including actionable browser URL bar enables users to directly tap the address bar for instant searches and navigation. It also include support for bookmarks with web page thumbnails, double-tap zoom and HTML5. Following feature are supported as part of HTML5
