Google has introduced a new feature for Android mobile users called Goggles. Goggles is a visual search application for Android devices and it can be downloaded from Android market place. Goggles lets users to search for objects using images rather than typing text. Currently Goggles is a lab experiment at this time. To use Goggles simple take picture from your camera phone and if Google is able to recognize the picture it will return relevant search results. As of now Goggles identify landmarks, works of art and products.
How Google Goggles Works ?
- User Send picture to Google Datacenter.
- Google create signature of image using Computer vision.
- Compare this signature with all other signatures present in Google’s database.
- Figure out best matches.
- Than Google return one or more search results based on available meta data and ranking signals.
You can even get local business information without even taking a picture. Instead, Google uses GPS and compass data, and it will give you the business information
