As everybody knows that hundreds were killed and injured on Wednesday in a series of coordinated terror attacks that struck Mumbai,India’s financial and commercial capital. After that Investigations by the Mumbai police from one nabbed terrorist, The interrogation committee revealed that they were highly trained for such attacks and used technologies such as satellite phones, and global positioning systems (GPS), means Terrorists used Google Earth to plan the recent attacks in Mumbai.
According to Indian news paper that the country’s ministry of science and technology and other defense and security agencies were evaluating the images available on Google Earth. The newspaper quoted an official in the ministry of science and technology as saying that the high resolution of satellite images on Google Earth posed a security threat to installations in the country.
Google Earth has introduced earlier for criticism in India, including from the country’s former President, APJ Abdul Kalam. Kalam warned in a 2005 lecture that the easy availability online of detailed maps of countries from services such as Google Earth could be misused by terrorists.Then after security agencies of India have registered a complain that Google Earth exposed Indian defense and other sensitive installations without taking any permission.
But here I would like to share one more thing, Google map is not only way to get the information about any country’s famous places terrorist could easily get these information by tour guide, city maps ,tourism maps of Mumbai etc. One Source said- “ the ten terrorists had not come to Mumbai before this to conduct any recce and they had learnt about the locations with the help of Google Earth.”
Now so many deadly and dangerous crimes are committed using such tools, So the government of the is now facing the public pressure to do something about this problem. All the men involved in the Mumbai terror attack were Pakistani nationals and no locals were involved, arrested militant Ajmal Kasab told Mumbai’s Anti Terrorism Squad. As no locals were involved so obviously they got the information through other sources like Google maps & Internet also.
26/11 was the day when we heard that our Metro City Mumbai attacked by the terrorists. Even nobody believes that why they attacked on TAJ HOTEL. I think we have to think that what are the reason behind all the attacks and eventually the term comes to our mind is “PAKISTAN”.
