Subscribe a Portion of Webpage Using IE8 WebSlices IE8 has one very good feature that is WebSlices. Using WebSlices users can subscribe to a portion of webpage. WebSlice is just work as RSS Feeds works, where user get can subscribe and get updates without going to visit individual WebPages.

IE8 Beta 1 allows users to discover and add WebSlices to their Favorite Bar. Just below the address a dedicated row is also there, that give users to easy access to their WebSlices. WebSlices detects changes and notifies users for changes and users can directly preview these updates from Favorites Bar or directly go to the website for more information.

At the end of this post I have included one video for IE8 WebSlices.

How to use IE8 WebSlice?

There are four aspects of IE8 WebSlice user interface.

Discovery

Users can discover that a web page has WebSlices, just as the page could have feeds. The discovery button lights up if there are WebSlices or feed found on a current web page. Users can also discover WebSlices directly within a Web page. When a mouse pointer hovers a WebSlices region, an in-page button appears at the top left corner.

Subscribe

Users can add WebSlices to the Favorites Bar in order to get updates, by clicking on the Discovery Button.

Notify

Users can see when there are updates to the WebSlices. WebSlices that have updates are bold on the address bar.

Preview

Users can preview updates to WebSlices. Clicking a WebSlice on the Favorite Bar Displays a details view of that WebSlice. Users navigate to the Web site that hosts the WebSlice by clicking on the open button.

Users can use WebSlices to keep connected with their favorite Websites. WebSlice help users to get an easy link to their Websites and easily get updates from your Websites. WebSlice can be used for weather, horoscopes and “what’s new” information, as well as time-dependent content such as auction items and flight arrivals.

    IE 8 is 1 really promising browser from MS, after the thrashing for standards IE’s previous versions have got, MS is finally moving in the right direction. IE 8 renders sites exactly like Firefox & Opera, so as far as standards and compatibility goes I think MS will settle the debate once and for all with IE8.

    Hi Ajay

    There is some problem in the sidebar of theme in your blog…test it in ie with any resolution…the sidebar moves at the bottom.

    I have just applied this theme in my second blog…same is happening there….do u have workaround for this problem.

    Whilst I really like a physical keyboard, after coping with the Samsung Captivate for roughly 15 minutes, it is arduous to go back. At the moment I’m debating whether to visit Verizon for the Droid X, move to Sprint for the EVO, or stick with AT&T for the Captivate…selections, decisions.
