Google has acquired Episodic, a video content management, content ingest and encoding, adaptive bit rate playback, monetization through advertising and credit card transaction, audience measurement and analytics, and syndication company. The Episodic team will join Google and continue its work to bring a great video experience to the Web, mobile phones and IPTV devices. There will be no interruption in service for existing Episodic customers.
This is the second acquisition of Google related to video company. Google also finalized the acquisition of video compressions specialists On2 which was first announced in August 2009.
