Microsoft has removed the rouge Antivirus software program called Antivirus 2009 almost from 394000 computers. December’s version of the Malicious Software Removal Tool (MSRT), a free utility that Microsoft pushes to Windows users as part of Patch. Apart from the Antivirus 2009 some other rouge software programs are also removed by the Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool including "Antivirus XP," "AntivirusXP 2008" and "Antivirus 2009".

On Wednesday, 17 December 2008 Microsoft has released an emergency patch to fix a security hole in its Internet Explorer software, The hole in Internet Explorer’s security may allow hackers to hijack Internet Explorer browsers and take over computers. MS08-078, This security update resolves a publicly disclosed vulnerability by modifying the way Internet Explorer validates data binding parameters and handles the error resulting in the exploitable condition. This security update is rated Critical for Internet Explorer 5.01, Internet Explorer 6, Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1, and Internet Explorer 7.

It plans to ship a security update, rated "critical," for the browser on Wednesday. People with the Windows Update feature activated on their computers will get the patch automatically. it has seen attacks targeting the flaw only in Internet Explorer 7, the most widely used version, but has cautioned that all other current editions of the browser are vulnerable.

The Microsoft Exchange Remote Connectivity Analyzer website also offer test for Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync AutoDiscover, Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 AutoDiscover Connectivity, Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 RPC/HTTP Connectivity and Inbound SMTP Email Test.

Microsoft has released the company’s first application for Apple’s popular smartphone[iPhone] called Seadragon Mobile. The Seadragon Mobile application allows users to view images with giga-pixel resolutions. This application allows users to zoom in on the details of very high-resolution images, like a map. After enabling this application with the iPhone, it includes multi-touch capabilities means users can zoom in or out image/picture with ease.

The IBM (International Business Machines Corp.) is going to launch a virtual desktop applications based on Linux that runs on a backroom server and doesn’t require Microsoft software. The virtual Linux Desktop will cost around $59 to $289 per user. The price will depend upon the software & services selected by you. IBM offers special Software package for corporate customer, they can save ~ $800(max) per user, instead of using Microsoft’s costly package such as Microsoft’s Vista operating system, Office suite and collaboration tools. So IBM has planned a lot to cut the Microsoft’s Corporate Customers but it’s all depend on the success of IBM’s Virtual Linux Desktop. One advantage of that is- thin clients don’t get viruses, and Linux servers make it much harder for viruses to do a lot of damage.

On December 4, 2008 Microsoft is opening it’s Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 service pack 2 customer preview program to a broader range of people. MSDN and TechNet subscribers will also have access to download, install and test the beta of service pack2. Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 service pack have fixes issue that are reported by customers and partner driven feedback surveys. Service pack 2 contains all previously released updates, SP2 will contain changes focused on addressing reliability and performance issues, supporting new types of hardware, and adding support for several emerging standards.
