Microsoft is in the process of releasing their latest browser that is Internet Explorer and just before the final release Microsoft published a report “Measuring the Performance of Browsers”. Published document explain the various benchmarking components and how they impact the performance, document also outline how to setup their own benchmarking environment to test browser performance. According to Microsoft browser performance test that their are several factors that can affect the performance of browser its really hard to test the actual performance of any web browser. There are many variables such as network latency, network congestion, and website traffic levels for “live” website tests that can affect measurements.
Browser performance report also outlined that web browser users are not going to always run the JavaScript, browser is made of several subsystems and each subsystem plays a role in overall performance of any browser. For a real world users performance is not just the performance of one subsystem, its the overall performance of the browser how quickly it loads the web pages or web applications.
As you can see, IE8 outperforms Firefox 3.05 and Chrome 1.0 in loading 12 websites, Chrome 1.0 places second by loading nine sites first, and Firefox brings up the rear by loading four sites faster than the other two browsers. By looking into the report you will find that Mozilla Firefox loads Microsoft.com faster then Internet Explorer and same with the case with Internet Explore loads Mozilla.com faster then Firefox. The Browse Performance Report is available for download over the Microsoft download Website.
Microsoft made a number of performance as well security improvements in Internet Explorer8 as compare to previous versions of Internet Explorer. Microsoft has a promotional video up on Microsoft.com that shows off these speed tests. Looks like the report may have been released quietly, but Microsoft is promoting the data from it quite strongly.
