Yes you are right Microsoft things Windows operating system as just another software from Microsoft Corp. Microsoft releases it’s windows operating system every two or three years and stop providing support for its previous version of operating system.

In year 1998 Microsoft releases it’s Windows 98 and after two year later Microsoft releases its new operating System Windows Millennium. Windows Millennium is for mainly Y2K problem.
In year 2007 Microsoft has launched its hyped operating system Widows Vista with a lot of problems even Microsoft internal employees are facing problems while using the widows vista. And now they are planning to release a new version of Windows called as Windows 7.

In this process of getting a new operating system every two to three years developers are totally confused. Developers facing so much compatibility issues. Develop system that support latest version of windows as well as the previous version of widows. Latest example is that Microsoft will stop support for Windows xp later in this year and windows Vista require a lot of hardware changes. Who knows that Windows 7 will come with same lot of problems ask you to change your hardware.
