Finally Windows Live Mail and Hotmail get pop3 Access

Windows Live Mail and Hotmail Microsoft has finally start rolling out the support for pop3 access for it’s Email service including Windows Live Mail and Hotmail. With this pop3 support Windows Live mail and Hotmail users will be able to access their E-Mail accounts through a number of E-Mail clients software on their pc or mobile phone.

When you set up Hotmail in the E-mail program on your PC or mobile device, you may be asked for the following information:

POP server: pop3.live.com (Port 995)  
POP SSL required? Yes
User name: Your Windows Live ID, for example yourname@hotmail.com
Password: The password you usually use to sign in to Hotmail or Windows Live
SMTP server: smtp.live.com (Port 25)  
Authentication required? Yes (this matches your POP username and password)
TLS/SSL required? Yes

How to Setup Windows Live and Hotmail pop3 account ?

I am showing a step by step guide for how to setup in Microsoft Office Outlook

Enter all the details like your name, Email address and password. Finally check the “Manually configure server settings or additional server types” 

 Add New Email Account

 

Choose Email service as Internet E-Mail

Choose E-Mail Service

Enter pop3 Settings Details

Enter Pop3 Settings Details

Now you will be able to access the Windows Live Mail and Hotmail via your E-Mail client.

Currently accessing Windows Live Mail and Hotmail via pop3 is only available to United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, France, Japan, Spain, Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands. Microsoft will be rolling out pop3 access to other countries later in this year

    i’ve had to fwd emails to my gmail account to be able to use hotmail with apple mail so this is great news!!!

    I have tried numerous times and I keep getting an error message. I guess it doesn’t work with Microsoft Office 2003?
