Recently Microsoft share the preview of latest version of Hotmail. This new version of Hotmail comes with a lot of security enhancements. Among the several security enhancements Microsoft has made in the new Hotmail, here are a few :
Account Recovery
Microsoft has added mobile phones and other items as proof of account ownership. For example, if you lose your password, or, worse, if your account gets compromised, we can now send you an account recapture code via SMS to regain access to your account.
Single Use Code
Hotmail users can request a single-use-code for accessing their Hotmail account. This code acts as one time substitute for your password. This code comes very handy when you want to access your hotmail account from a public. When you request Single-Use-Code, the code is sent via SMS to the phone number associated with your Hotmail account.

Full Session SSL
With this new version of Hotmail, it will support full session SSL means encryption between you and Hotmail servers during your entire Hotmail session.
Trusted Senders
Hotmail will help you to visually identify trusted senders in your inbox, particularly banks and other institutions commonly used for phishing scams.
