On 17 June 17, 2008, Microsoft announced its first operating system for portable devices. Windows Embedded NavReady makes power portable navigation devices more web friendly, easy connection to internet as well as online services and allows portable navigation devices to connect to other devices using Bluetooth. Windows Embedded NavReady is based on Windows Embedded CE.
Microsoft has included Live Search in their new Operating system to help users to easily find content on internet.
Windows Embedded also synchronizes with MSN Direct, to help users to get updated from traffic conditions and many other things.
Windows Embedded NavReady allows Portable navigation devices to be used as secondary screens using Microsoft technology called as "SlideShow".
People having Bluetooth enabled mobile devices will be able to pair them with new NavReady 2009-based PNDs for hands-free phone book access, audio and video remote control, dial-up networking and to make hands-free phone calls and data connections.

This sounds very cool…I’ve been thinking that those NAV devices would be so much better if they could pull data from the internet instead of what’s stored in memory. Great!
