When Microsoft has released the service pack 1 for Windows Vista they managed to kill most of vista cracks that allows users to bypass the Windows Vista activation process. Microsoft announced Windows Genuine Advantage update set up to kill the SoftMod hack would be served to Windows Vista users in the coming weeks. Microsoft is releasing this update only for Windows Vista ultimate edition having English as their primary language.

Beginning this week, and over the next several weeks depending on where you are, we will be releasing an update to that particular technology to help Windows Vista Ultimate Edition based systems detect the presence of additional activation exploits, namely the activation exploit commonly referred to as the ‘SoftMod hack’.
Microsoft has already started serving Windows Vista activation exploit detection starting from 24,February 2009. Copies of windows Vista activated with SoftMod are flagged that their copies of Windows Vista is pirated. Windows Software Licensing window will inform users, in the eventuality that SoftMod is detected.
