Rouge computer software writers come up with a new variant of attack now they are distributing malicious software as they are Codec. Generally people look media codec for playing different media files. All these variants have been detected as Adware/VideoPlay. All these rouge Codec work in same manner like after installing the rouge Codec software run a file called matrix(random numbers).exe or bootmatrix.exe. This file spreads by making copies of itself in the removable drives and it also creates an autorun.inf in order to be run when they are accessed.
This file collects the data stored in the browsers, such as cookies, passwords, profiles, email accounts, etc, and connects to a remote address to send the information.
Users are recommenced to download software programs from trusted website.
