Find Hidden Data on Computer
Most computer users are won’t aware of how computer stores data. Computer users thinks that after deleting the data from the hard drive no one can have access to deleted data. If some one know some basics of how computer memory stores the data that then that person can easily see your deleted data. There are three techniques that can be used to see the deleted data.Deleted files and slack space, swap space, and hibernation files. These techniques can also be used to retrieve accidentally deleted data.
Deleted Files and Slack Space:When an operating system creates a new file, at that time it allocates certain number of sectors to that file. Maximum number of sectors are depend on the type of operating system or on the system administrator. After the allocation of sectors their location us kept in a directory table for later access. When the file is deleted, the space originally allocated to it is simply marked as unallocated. The actual data remains on the disk. Deleted files in this state are easily recoverable by many disk utilities.
Swap Space:Modern operating system expands RAM size by swap memory. In Linux environments, the swap area is an actual disk partition. On a Windows XP machine, the swap space is a file called Pagefile.sys. Since the data from the RAM is swapped to disk, so some very useful information can also be found in swap space.Information of emails may also be present in swap space and that can be easily accessed by any standard disk utility.
Hibernation Files: Hibernation files are created when system goes into sleep or hibernation mode. Windows XP entire contents of RAM to a file when going into hibernation. Like swap space, hibernation files can contain a wealth of information not found anywhere else on the target system.
A hard drive is full of information any one can access the stored or deleted information from the hard drive by just using the proper tool. These methods also very help to get back your deleted or lost files from your computer that some times computer users thinks that they have lost all your data.
