Google Buzz is just launched by Google and people are raising privacy concerned about Google Buzz. This privacy issue is  noted by the Silicon Alley Insider on Wednesday. By default Google Buzz show the list of people you follow and people that follow you. This list is a public list so any one visiting your Google profile would shown with a complete list of people that you follow and people follow you. In other words any one can go and see who are the people you email and chat with most.

Two obvious scenarios according Silicon Alley Insider

• Imagine if a wife discovering that her husband emails and chats with an old girlfriend a ton.
• Imagine a boss discovers a subordinate emails with executives at a competitor

The good news for Google is that this is a very easy problem to fix. Google must either shut off auto-following, or it must make follower lists private by default as soon as possible.

How to Stop following Someone in Google Buzz?

Click into Buzz on Gmail

In the middle of the page, it’ll show you who you’re automatically following. Click "View and edit"

Click "Unfollow" for everyone on your list you don’t want the world to know you’re emailing.

Or just scroll to the bottom of the page and turn Buzz off

Google has announced that https would be the default protocol for accessing Gmail account. Earlier the default protocol for accessing Gmail is http and users can change it to https via settings tab. Now with rollout https will become the default protocol for accessing Gmail accounts and Gmail users can switch it to http to get better performance. Although Google will use https for Gmail login pages and encrypt Gmail user Name and passwords.

http would be a good option if you are using Gmail from a trusted network or from corporate Firewall. If you are using Gmail from Home or a Common computer than its always suggested that use https instead of http.

Gmail team has added a new feature in Gmail that will allow Gmail users to manage their large contact books more easily. With duplicate contact find and merge Gmail users would be able to find and merge duplicate contacts in Gmail with just one click. There are two ways you can merge them: one at a time, or all your duplicates at once.

To merge contacts one at a time:

1. Select the contacts you’d like to merge from your contacts list.
2. Click Merge these [#] contacts… on the right-side panel.
3. Make any edits to the suggested solution (if you’d like to change anything).
4. Click Save at the top of the page.

To find and merge all of your duplicate contacts at once, use the following instructions:

1. Open the Contact Manager.
2. Click the Find duplicates button in the right-side panel.
3. We’ll display the duplicates we’ve found. You can expand them by clicking the details link next to each one and uncheck any that you don’t want to merge.
4. When you’re ready, click Merge at the top of the list.

As of now this feature is only available for Gmail contacts not for all contacts present in your Gmail Contact book.

Google has added a more secure and reliable option in Gmail for retrieving Gmail Password. Gmail is now allowing uses to recover their Gmail password via SMS.

To turn this on for your account, just sign in into your Google Account, select ‘Change Password Recovery Options’, enter your cell phone number and click ‘Save.’ Next time when you go to Forgot password page Google will send a recovery code on your mobile phone.

Adding SMS support makes Gmail more secure and password recovery is easy and reliable also.

Gmail team has added some cool feature to Gmail. Some days back Gmail team has added some new buttons and new key board shortcuts to Gmail and today they added drag and drop, show and hide features to Gmail labels.

Gmail labels get a new location in Gmail they will sit in left side in your Gmail inbox.  Labels are now located above the chat list in Gmail, grouped with default labels like Inbox and Drafts

Hide and show:

If you have labels that you don’t regularly click on, you can hide them so they only appear when you click the “more” link. That way, your left navigation  is only filled with labels you consider to be a priority. Show, hide or delete labels by clicking the down-arrow to the left of a label.

To make changes to multiple labels at a time, go to the “Labels” tab under “Settings” where you can edit labels in bulk.

Drag and drop
You can now drag messages into labels, just like you can with folders. This does the exact same thing as “Move to” — it labels and archives in one step.You can drag labels onto messages too. It’s the same thing as using the “Label” button. To label or move many messages at once, first select the messages and then drag and drop the label.

That’s it. You should now see the Dhingana Application appear on the left side.

Google has released a new software celled Google Apps Connector for BlackBerry Enterprise Server, With this release BlackBerry users can now use Google Mail, Calendar and contacts using the built-in BlackBerry Smartphone applications they already know and love. For example BlackBerry users can receive Gmail Mail Messages within the built in email client software.
