On 1st October in India Google has Launched new service called Google SMS Channels. This service Make able you subscribe to news alerts, blog updates and other kinds of information like horoscopes, jokes, stocks or even cricket scores via SMS text messages. Now see what is advantage of that- it’s free both for content publishers as well as mobile phone users who subscribe to text updates via SMS.

The person who are using mobile services to updates others by latest news (blogs, cricket scores, horoscope, jokes and information news) now they need not to worry  because  there’s an option that lets you can send SMS messages via the web itself. Google SMS Channels is providing this facility free of cost. It is available in India, but Google is planning to start this service internationally also.  you may also use Google SMS service to get news alerts like cricket Score, your horoscope weather information etc. on your phone.

Google Finance, yet another beta product from Google showed wrong data for nearly 12 hours. $1.2 trillion dollars was lost today, just because of Google Finance showing incorrect information. This service features business and enterprise headlines for many corporations including their financial decisions and major news events. Stock information is available, as are Adobe Flash-based stock price charts.

If you closely look into Google’s stock information site, you will find that numbers are off. This is the case when majority of country is looking for Stock information on Google’s Finance WebSite and a wrong information is there.Let’s look at an obvious stock: Google. According to Google Finance, Google closed at $390.08-a-share today. Down $40.96-a-share. Yikes. The only problem? It’s worse. It actually closed down $50.04, at $381.00-a-share, as Yahoo Finance correctly shows.

Google Finance chart looks like showing right information but the numbers are incorrect and these incorrect numbers screwed up closing number, stock falling even more in after-hours trading, when it’s actually rising.

Apple looses nearly 18% of it’s stock price today just because of Google Finance showing wrong information. Other stocks like eBay and Microsoft are also skewed.

Update: It looks like the numbers have finally been corrected as of 3 AM PST. With nearly 12 hours of wrong data and no word back yet from Google, this is still quite distressing. Others, including former Googler Chris Sacca share this concern in the FriendFeed

I think there is first time in the history of Google people are going against Google. Yes I am talking about Google- Yahoo deal. The World Foundation of Advertisers has now joined a large group of organizations by stepping forward and objecting to the partnership. WFA has written to the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Competition.  EU officials were already investigating the matte.

The World Federation of Advertisers (WFA) fears that the proposed advertising alliance between Yahoo and Google will have a detrimental effect on competition, result in price increases and reduce the options available to advertisers worldwide. It has therefore sent a written submission to the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Competition recommending that they block this agreement.

The submission is supported by WFA national advertiser associations, including the US Association of National Advertisers (ANA) and the Association of Canadian Advertisers (ACA), as well as its corporate members. Although Google and Yahoo insist this agreement is limited to North America, WFA believes that the effects will be global. One reason for this is that the substantial benefits for both parties in the US and Canada will almost certainly reduce their incentive to compete in other markets as they do today.

Google has launched a web application to find cheapest fuel in their area. Google developed fuel price gadget in partnership with petrol price monitoring company MotorMouth, finds the price of unleaded, diesel, LPG and other fuel types at service stations near a given address. Google has noticed high number of search queries for fuel prices from Australia and they come with Fuel price gadget. Currently fuel price gadget had prices for about 50 per cent of petrol stations in major cities at launch and that the figure would increase.

In recent days Gmail users noticed that they are getting more spam messages as compare to previous days. This was a bug causing more spam messages are coming to Gmail uses inbox now Google has fixed this bug. In recent months this is the second time when Gmail users reported spam problems in Gmail’s  official discussion forum. On Thursday, a Google employee named Sarah chimed in by posting to the main thread devoted to this topic to say that the complaints were well-founded and had pointed Google toward a solution.

Today Google Announced that it has acquired a Korean company- a blogging software in Korea called TNC (Tatter and Company), TNC provides Textcube, which is a blogging and publishing platform along the same lines as WordPress. TNS also recently launched a hosting service named Textcube Dot Com, which combines the best of blogging and SNS. TNC has been one of the most famous Web 2.0 startups in Korea.

Chang W. Kim, co-founder of the company explains

Google is the underdog in this region, but Korea is the worlds sixth largest market in terms of Internet users. The Korean users mainly use Yahoo-style portal services to do everything on the web. With the acquirement, Google created a new way to get to the customers. Kim also state- that, as a part of Google, TNC will work on increasing Google’s market share.

TNC offers a blogging platform similar as Automatic. It’s easy to use, and works close to the open source community. Biggest difference is that WordPress is fairly unknown here, so they represent a big blogging market, being used by a lot of nation’s A-list bloggers. it is one of the first Google acquisitions in Asia.

Why Google acquired TNC ? on this question CEO of TNC stated that - First, we had a killer product: Our previous work, Tistory blog service (now property of Daum as we sold the service to the Korea’s #2 portal), made to the top 10 Korean web destination in less than a year from launch, showing some 30,000% growth over the initial 8 months. While other blog services seem to be exploring the idea of integrating social networks with blogs only lately, our new blog service Textcube (link in Korean) had already implemented the feature much earlier. Secondly, we have great engineering talents.
