Recently Google has added 40 languages to its services and now Google has added support for Tamil. On August 6, 2008 Google has released Tamil version Google news. Google has recognize that entering Tamil text through keyboard is very hard task, Google’s transliteration technology enables the conversion from English text to phonetically equivalent text in Indian languages. For example, using transliteration, you could type “vanakkam” and we would convert it to Tamil script as ???????. Google has embedded this technology in it’s several other services also.

Google search in Tamil enables users to start typing in English and automatically get query suggestions in Tamil. If you wanted to enter the query “ponniyin selvan” in Tamil, just start typing it in English - e.g. “ponni” and we will show the Tamil suggestions

Tamil transliteration in Blogger is designed for bloggers publishing content in Tamil when using the English keyboard for text entry. It’s our hope that this will make Tamil content more popular and more easily available online.

Tamil transliteration in orkut makes it easier to communicate with friends and family by exchanging scraps in Tamil.

Google has optimized Orkut for Symbian Series 60 (3rd edition) mobile phones. New Orkut now works on Nokia’s Nseries (N95, N82, etc.) and Samsung’s SGH models. Google has also added more features including photo uploads, picture galleries, click-to-call, and quick friend searches. The good news is that for using all these new features there is no need to download any other special software.

Now Orkut users can play Hangman game on Orkut. Orkut has added a new application names as “myHangman” which lets you to play the Hangman game over the Orkut. You can chose a topic from the existing list or create your own based on your favorite movies, music, TV Shows, celebrities, or anything else that fascinates you.

Why this big software giant is struggling to get the number 1 position in internet. To gain the 1 position doing so many things like investing a huge amount of money, trying to acquire the number 2 (Yahoo Inc) duplicating it’s own mail to (live.com), launching a new website for search (http://live.com), participating in open source communities encouraging developers to develop plugin for open source as well as for Microsoft technologies but their some thing is going wrong with big software giant.
1. Quality is missing
2. There are trying to copy each and every thing from their competitors
3. Focusing to much on their rivals Instead they have to more focus on their technology use and their improvements’ and their utilization
Google is utilizing Microsoft technology very well for example orkut is made using the asp.net technology
Google uses the concept of XHTML after that each one tried to copy the same idea and started building application with the same technologies.

In later articles I will figure out what Microsoft has to do to compete with it’s main rival Google it’s not the acquisitions that solve the problems it’s Microsoft attitude towards the internet will change the picture
