How to Backup Outlook Personal Folders

Outlook uses .PST files for storing all your Emails, Calendars and Contacts and you want to backup outlook .PST files on regular basis then Outlook Folder Backup would be useful for you. Outlook Folder Backup works with Outlook 2002 and higher versions of Outlook.

Outlook personal folder backup creates backup copies of your outlook .PST files at regular intervals, in Outlook 2002 and later versions, making it easy to keep all of your Outlook folders safely backed up.

How to User Outlook Folder Backup?

  1. On the File menu, click Backup.
  2. Click Options.
  3. In the Backup these personal folders files list, select the check box for each item you want to back up.
  4. Change the .pst file name shown. Or, to select a different folder, click Browse, navigate to the location you want, and then click Open.
  5. To have Microsoft Outlook automatically remind you to make a backup copy of this file, select the Remind me to backup every x days check box, and then type the number of days between 1 and 999.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Click Save Backup.

Note: Personal Folders Backup only backs up .PST files. If you have a Microsoft Exchange Server mailbox, your server mailbox folders are likely backed up regularly by your server administrator.
Note: If you are using an East Asian operating system (such as Korean language WinMe) with an English version of Microsoft Office, you will be unable to use this download.

Improving Outlook 2007 Performance With Pre-SP2 performance update

After the release of Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 its having major performance issues. This performance pack made significant improvements in terms of Outlook’s performance and responsiveness:

  • General Responsiveness – the Outlook 2007 SP1 February 2009 cumulative update reduces I/O disk usage and UI response time.
  • Startup – the Outlook 2007 SP1 February 2009 cumulative update removes long operations from initial startup (please note that there is a one-time data structure upgrade cost after the first install that takes a relatively linear amount of time based on the size of your PSTs and OST).
  • Shutdown – the Outlook 2007 SP1 February 2009 cumulative update makes Outlook exit predictably despite pending activities (for more information, please see http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd239276.aspx).
  • Folder/View Switch – the Outlook 2007 SP1 February 2009 cumulative update improves view rendering and folder switching.
