Microsoft has released a free theme tool for Windows7 and other versions Windows called Windows Experience Pack. Windows Experience pack is a cloud application and it produces an executable with Windows7 and Windows live messenger customization package according to user preferences. Once downloaded and executed, the customization package will offer customers the possibility of saving the avatar locally and choose Bing as the default search engine and MSN as the default home page. For users that don’t have Microsoft’s IM client, the package is designed to also download and install Windows Live Messenger.
With the Windows Experience Pack, you are able create an alter-ego of yourself in a specific destination – a beach, mountain, safari, or city. When you create your alter-ego, you create a fully customized avatar for that destination that becomes a part of a Windows Live Messenger and Windows 7 theme for your PC. You’ll also be able to download a .jpg image of your avatar to share, print, or use as your icon on social networks. Windows Experience Pack is capable of creating a Windows 7 theme complete with a desktop background, out of a plethora of wallpapers, a screensaver, and an avatar which can be personalized and bundled with pictures of end users.
For a specific destination you pick, the following Windows Live Messenger elements are created for you to use in Messenger for your alter-ego:
- 1 static Display Picture
- Up to 4 Dynamic Display Pictures
- A Wink
- 7 new Emoticons
- A new Messenger Scene
For Windows 7, you are given the choice between 3 desktop backgrounds for your destination and a screensaver featuring multiple photos from your destination.
The Windows Experience Pack was created and optimized for Windows 7, but it can be downloaded and used on PCs running Windows XP or Windows Vista too (although performance and features may vary).
Windows XP SP3 users reported that CA Antivirus falsely identified Windows XP system files and placing them in quarantine. Windows XP home office and small business users have reported the following files were affected.

c:\windows\system32\net.exe
c:\windows\system32\netsh.exe
c:\windows\system32\reg.exe
The CA advisory reads:
CA Internet Security Suite users should restore affected files from quarantine using the GUI. CA Threat Manager customers should search local hard drives for files with the extension .AVB and manually rename to their original file extension by removing the appended text on the original file name.
This is a false positive due to CA Anti-Virus Update # 6604 and has been corrected with CA Anti-Virus Update # 6606 or later.
Please update the CA Internet Security Suite software to avoid getting these alerts again.
Once the product updates are over you would need to restore quarantined items by following the article below:

It happens many times we lose Internet access when waking our system from sleep mode, the network icon shows ‘local only’, then normally we restart machine and restore the wireless link. So first you need to check the life of device driver for notebook’s wireless adapter, it may be older than the machine.
So now you will have to update driver, visit the notebook vendor’s site and get the latest version of the driver, download & update then restart machine. Now put machine on sleep mode for a longtime then wake it up and check at bottom-right corner indicate Internet connection.
For that you’ll have to chose correct way to update Window drive driver because wrong selection may be the cause, if anything happens unlikely.
Guideline for driver update
-
This may be the batter option for those, who are not able to get updated version of driver from the notebook vendors site for the appropriate update, get your driver from the PC vendor. System vendors often customize the drivers for their machine.
-
Update driver one at a time, if you try to load several driver at a time then it can create some problem and also bit tough to find-out which one is not supporting or creating problem.
-
Create the restore point, suppose if anything happens wrong during updating of the driver then it can protect from harm. Windows XP an Vista create a restore point before the new driver installation. For precaution set yourself via system restore with descriptive name in case you forget when and what exactly you updated. Roll Back Driver function under the Driver tab in the Device Manager Properties dialog box. Likewise, run the updates own installer rather than using Properties’ Update Driver button.
Mostly PC users can manage their software updates on their own, through vendors help. You can also update your Microsoft Office automatically via the Windows Update service, and other major applications offer similar auto-update functions. Likewise, Flash, QuickTime, and other media players can be set to update automatically.

Renaming multiple files in Windows XP is supported by Windows XP it self. Don’t look for any free utility or software for renaming multiple files. Windows Explorer makes renaming multiple files very easy. You can also use windows command prompt to rename multiple files.
First, select the group of files that you want to rename. Next, right-click the first files in the group and choose the Rename command from the shortcut menu. Then simply type in a new name. As you do, you’ll need to append the number 1 in parenthesis to the end of the filename. When you press [Enter], each of the selected files will be renamed with the new name, and the number in the parenthesis will be sequentially incremented, as shown in.
