Get Best Results using FeedBurner with your Self-Hosted WordPress Site

With my new blog theme I have directed all my blog and comments feeds to FeedBurner. I am sharing my experience how I have directed all my WordPress feeds to FeedBurner Feeds.

To get best out of FeedBurner is direct all your WordPress blog feeds to FeedBurner, but how to do that? Google recommend the FeedBurner FeedSmith plug-in (originally authored by the legendary Steve Smith). The plug-in will detect all ways to access your feed (e.g. http://www.yoursite.com/feed/ or http://www.yoursite.com/wp-rss2.php, etc.), and redirect them to your FeedBurner feed so you can track every possible subscriber. It will forward for your main posts feed and optionally, your main comments feed as well.
FeedSmith plug-in is compatible from WordPress version 1.5 to 2.5.

FeedSmith plug-in also offer blogger’s to add comment subscription to FeedBurner account.

How to use FeedSmith Plug-in?

Download FeedSmith plug-in.
Copy the plug-in file, FeedBurner_FeedSmith_Plugin.php into your default WordPress plugin directory, wp-content/plugins/ .
Activate the plug-in by logging into your WordPress administration area, clicking Plug-ins, and then clicking Activate at the end of the “FeedBurner FeedSmith” row.
In the WordPress administration area, begin the configuration by clicking Options and then the FeedBurner FeedSmith sub-option.
Follow the links to create your FeedBurner feeds, or if they already exist, simply fill in their URLs in the boxes provided.
Verify your URLs in the text entry fields, and click Save.
Now all of your WordPress feed traffic should be redirected to FeedBurner

I think you should try this features. Instead of using feeds.feedburner.com as your feed URL you can also use feeds.yourdomainname.com

feedburner can also be use to get revenue from some other ad networks. like adsense and many other.

I dont use a plugin. I just manually edited the header file and replaced wpress feed url with feedburner feed url.
