How to Create Windows Recovery Partition
Have you ever reinstalled Microsoft Windows, reloaded all your applications or reset all your settings. If yes then you know that how painful process is that. But by creating a recovery partition or recovery drive you can easily restore windows in a very efficient and faster manner. To create a recovery partition you need two things first sufficient hard drive space and a recovery partition creator software. symantec Norton PartitionMagic 8.0 and Norton Ghost 10.0 are very good recovery partition creator software’s. Creating a recovery partition is very simple process. let’s see how can you create a recovery partition on your windows machine
Steps to crate Windows Recovery Partition
-
Install a fresh copy of Windows, load all require drivers, software programs, utilities software’s, anti-virus and adjust screen resolution and other settings.
-
Create a partition with enough available space to hold Windows and your applications. Ten gigabytes should be ample for most users (remember, the backup image will be compressed), but consider making it larger if you have a lot of programs installed or storage space to burn. For creating a partition you can use the windows partition utility or you can use utilities like PartitionMagic.
-
Run your backup utility program. Its better to turn off your anti-virus program while backing up your computer system. You can find list of free backup and recovery software’s here or you can also use Norton Ghost (PC Magazine says Norton Ghost is best backup and recovery software)
-
If you are using Norton Ghost for creating recovery partition then you can also schedule your back up. Scheduling your backup makes incremental backup of computer system and you always have the latest backup.
-
To use the recovery partition, make sure you’ve backed up all your vital data to another drive or removable media, then boot your PC with the Ghost CD loaded in the optical drive. You’ll then be able to restore from the partition to your primary drive, resulting in a ready-to-roll PC with all your applications, drivers, and settings loaded.

I had Ghost when I was still using pirated software and I didn’t have a particularly good experience with it (not the software’s fault though!). I switched to gParted after going anti-pirate and it’s awesome!
i have also give a link to some free backup and recovery softwares you can also try any of those softwares.

This is great!
But my laptop has it’s mass storage as a SATA Hard Drive. When I boot it with a XP bootable CD, it doesn’t identify hard drives. Also I have no floppy drive to give RAID drivers when re-installing windows.Hence I wanted to make a recovery backup partition. Are you sure that this GOST Cd will be able to detect SATA HDD if I have installed RAID Drivers when creating the back up?
Thanks!!!
As i think Norton software will detect your hard drive and you will be able to restore the backup.if u have some doubt u can also try some free software utilities i have also give their link in my post. please check it here
