Windows Update requires ActiveX to be installed on your browser so that you can download and install windows update. Now Firefox users can also download and install windows update without switching browser. Firefox add-on called IE Tab which will allow you to run Windows Update or other Web sites that are designed primarily for Internet Explorer and don’t run properly under Firefox. IE tab is just like running Internet Explorer as your browser. IE vulnerabilities also come with IE Firefox Add-on.
How to install IE tab

In Firefox go to Tools, Add-ons, and click on Get Extensions in the lower right-hand side.

In the Search box, type “IE Tab.”

Install the add-on and restart your browser.

Now you can configure the Web sites of your choice (e.g., Microsoft.com) to run under IE instead of Firefox.
To protect you from IE vulnerabilities use Firefox add-on called “User Agent Switcher.” This add-on doesn’t use the IE engine; it simply fools Web sites by reporting itself as IE.
